Sending Images

Can I send Images of the Past my photographs through the mail?

Yes, a large portion of our clients mail us their images. There are several things to keep in mind however to ensure the safe arrival of your images:

1) Ship your photographs using a service that tracks the package such as UPS, FedX, or registered mail through your post office.

2) Package your images well, We can not be responsible for damage occurred while in transport. At the very least your photographs should be between two pieces of cardboard larger than the image and then placed in a padded envelope. For larger images or more safety use a box instead of an envelope.

3) Do not forget to include your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address inside your package.

4) Ship to:

Should I send the original frame on my photograph?

Only send the original frame if you wish us to re-frame the original photograph or if you desire to use the original frame on your copy. When shipping a frame with glass it may be in your best interest to have the item professionally packaged and shipped.

Can I e-mail my image(s) to Images of the Past?

We do accept images sent to us digitally for estimates on restoration. Since the quality of our work is very dependent on the initial scanning process we do recommend that you allow Images of the Past to preform the scanning from the original image. When we do not have an original on site we can not assure the copies color or tones will match. If you are unable to send the original photograph, and absolutely have to send us a scan it must be of high quality, 360dpi at the final print size is the minimum resolution required, files formatted as .jpg's will work but .tif files are preferred. If none of this makes any sense to you bring your photo to a professional photo lab to have it scanned. You then can either e-mail the image to or send a cd or dvd copy to us.
